Northeast United FC booked their place in the Hero Indian Super League Playoffs with a 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters FC in their final league game of the season. They become the third team to qualify for the Playoffs - with ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City having already earned their place in the next stage of the competition.

Suhair Vadakkepeedika opened the cards for the Highlanders in the 34th minute as he capitalised on some slack defending by Kerala Blasters and slammed the ball home.

They doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time as Lalengmawia pulled off an absolute worldie. The 20-year-old midfielder unleashed a strike from long-range which went in off the crossbar. A truly world-class goal which Albino Gomes could not have done much to prevent.

Northeast United came close to scoring their third goal of the match in the 59th minute, but Deshorn Brown's effort thudded off the post and went out for a goal kick.

The 30-year-old attacker then missed another glorious opportunity in the 85th minute. After receiving Federico Gallego's pass into the box, he evaded Gomes but could only manage to hit the side-netting.

However, the two goals they scored in the first-half were enough for them to see off Kerala Blasters, who end their season 10th in the table, and earn their place in the Playoffs.
