Portugal and Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, courtesy of his performances on the pitch which has seen him win five Ballon d'Or awards.

His achievements do not mean that he is immune to criticism and he was at the receiving end of it especially from Italian publication, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Forza Italian Football) following his poor performance during Juventus' 3-0 loss to AC Milan in the Serie A on Sunday.

The publication did not hold back by stating that the club had no "guts, no game, no identity", while also talking about “the ghost of Cristiano Ronaldo” as the Portuguese didn’t manage a single touch in Milan’s box in the first half.

“He wandered around without finding space, despite having [Alvaro] Morata by his side,” La Gazzetta dello Sport added.

While Juventus have had an extremely poor season by their high standards, Ronaldo for his part has been his usual brilliant self in front of goal, scoring 34 goals in all competitions so far. However, the Bianconeri's recent struggles both financially and on the pitch have led to rumours of a potential move in the summer, with the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain being linked with his signature.

Other reports have said that he could return to Sporting Clube de Portugal to finish his career, which is a decision his family would be supportive of.
