Her first two goals came within the opening six minutes, while the third came less than half an hour later. To make matters worse, Moore scored the perfect hat-trick - as her own goals were completed with her left foot, right foot, and her head.

She’s battled back from tough injuries inc. snapping her Achilles in 2019. And is part of the Liverpool team who could win promotion back to the WSL in a matter of weeks.

To those who know her, Meikayla Moore is already known for so much more than scoring three own goals.
Sending some love out to Liverpool / NZ national team defender Meikayla Moore. This beautiful game can be cruel despite the hard work and passion. #USWNT

Plus, the three own goals really aren't a reflection of Meikayla Moore as a player.

Liverpool haven't conceded a goal in the league since November, please watch her in action for Liverpool before judging, you might enjoy what you see while you are at it. https://t.co/T5EpKPqPj7
Moore has gone on to make 15 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions.
US defender Ali Krieger tweeted her support for Moore during the game.
"I’m so proud of the USWNT, 3-0 at half vs NZ, but I do have to say my heart goes out to Moore.
I’m so proud of @USWNT , 3-0 at half vs NZ but I do have to say my heart goes out to Moore. This beautiful game can be cruel sometimes and today doesn’t define her! I can’t imagine the pressure she feels atm and I hope she’s okay. #SheBelievesCup
