Record seven-time Ballon d'Or award winner, Lionel Messi reportedly led the celebrations in the Paris Saint-Germain dressing room after hearing that the French giants had drawn Real Madrid in the round of 16 stage of the Champions League.
As per ABC, a majority of the PSG squad apart from former Los Blancos skipper, Sergio Ramos were understood to be delighted to have drawn Madrid, with the squad confident of beating them and progressing to the next stage.
PSG for their part were not expected to play Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League, as they were initially pitted against Manchester United in December's draw. But after the draw was voided due to a mistake, they were handed a two-legged tie with the 13-time European champions.
UEFA had issued an apology for voiding the initial draw as it meant that the Los Blancos would miss out on an assumed easier tie against Benfica.
"Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred," UEFA had explained on the issue.
Messi who won four Champions League titles during his time with Barcelona, will be key if PSG are to break their duck and win their first ever European honour come the end of the season.
