Real Madrid defender Marcelo has reportedly been left out of the squad to face Granada after getting into an argument with Zinedine Zidane during training.

The veteran defender was axed for Los Blancos' crunch LaLiga clash despite Ferland Mendy being ruled out for the season. According to Goal, Marcelo was left out of the squad by Zidane after the two of them had an argument during a training session earlier this week.

The report claims that the argument was over Marcelo's playing time this season, with the Brazilian growing increasingly frustrated at Zidane's tactics and line-up decisions. The report also adds that Marcelo isn't the only veteran player who is annoyed with the Frenchman, with several other senior players also unhappy with the current atmosphere at the club.

Marcelo has been at Real since January 2007 since joining from Fluminense, and the alleged clash now raises doubts over his future at the Bernabeu. It was also reported last week that a number of players in the dressing room believe that Zidane will not be in charge at the club next season.

Madrid are currently third on the league table, five points off leaders Atletico Madrid, and two points off Barcelona, who are second.
