Manchester United have reportedly reignited their interest in Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Tripper.

The England right back has two years left on his contract, but the cash-strapped LaLiga champions might be open to a deal, according to Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils had to dismiss their plans of bringing in the 30-year-old in January after he was suspended for breaching betting regulations, but are back in the market for Tripper, who will provide competition for Aaron Wan Bissaka.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to close the gap with Premier League champions Manchester City, and has, according to The Guardian, set his sights on four new additions as he looks to build a new-look squad following their Europa League loss to Villarreal on Wednesday. The United boss wants to bring in a new right winger, centre back, centre midfielder, and a striker.

However, Tripper has insisted he is happy in Madrid, thwarting United's plan. He said: “I'm enjoying myself so much out there. I'm just fully focused on doing the best I can for my club. I'm absolutely delighted I won the title out there."

He added, “People might not focus on me as much because I'm out there in Spain, the Premier League is the Premier League, but I'm enjoying myself, loving it, my family are enjoying it, there's sunshine every single day so I just need to keep doing as well as I can for Atletico."

Trippier concluded, “I'm delighted I've done that and now I'm part of England. I know Gareth watches the games along with his staff, so for me it's just about doing as well as I can at the highest level to try to be selected for as long as I can with the national team.”
