Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make a substantial offer to prise Harry Kane away from Tottenham in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The England international revealed his desire to leave the north London club last week, and a number of European clubs have been put on high alert over his potential availability. Manchester City are reportedly leading the race to sign the 27-year-old, but according to The Times, the Red Devils are willing to splash the cash and steal a march on their rivals.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add another striker to his squad, despite Edinson Cavani extending his contract earlier this month. The report adds that United are willing to foot the bill for any loyalty bonuses Kane would have been entitled to had he seen out his contract with Tottenham.

Speaking earlier this week, Solskjaer said: "I hope we are going to strengthen with two or three players. We definitely need to challenge higher up in the table and we're still too far behind to think it will just come by itself. We're not where we aim to be, we've got ambitions to move one place further up."

Chelsea are also reportedly keen on signing the forward, with ESPN claiming that Thomas Tuchel's side are willing to offer several players in exchange for the wantaway star in a player-plus-cash deal. Chelsea are prepared to offer Tammy Abraham, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Callum Hudson-Odoi in a swap deal for Kane.

The Daily Mail reported last week that both Manchester clubs are keen on landing Kane as they look to beef up their attacking options. The report claimed that the forward would be offered £300,000 a week on a five-year deal, which would be an improvement of £70,000 from his Tottenham terms.

City seem to be leading the race to land the forward as they look to replace Sergio Aguero, who looks to be on his way to Barcelona.
