Manchester United have reportedly made Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe as their "top target" for 2022.

Mbappe is in the final 12 months of his contract at PSG and has, so far, refused to put pen to paper on a new deal. The Frenchman has been Real Madrid's top target throughout this summer window, but United are keeping a "watching brief" on the 22-year-old, according to ESPN.

The report claims that the Red Devils are aware of Madrid's interest in the forward, but are willing to meet his hefty wage demands if he becomes available on a free transfer in 2022.

The LaLiga giants have been freeing up funds to sign Mbappe, letting Raphael Varane leave for £42million to United and Martin Odegaard for £30m to Arsenal.

The report adds that United have also put Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland and wantaway Tottenham forward Harry Kane on their list. Kane is currently in the midst of forcing a transfer to defending Premier League champions, Manchester City, who fell short of £50m of Spurs' £150m asking price.

Haaland, on the other hand, looks set to stay at Dortmund this season despite his agent, Mino Raiola, holding talks with Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain earlier this summer. Chelsea have also shown interest in meeting the £150m price tag for the 21-year-old, while Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in both, Haaland and Mbappe.
