A Manchester United player reportedly informed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he was made to look like "s**t" in the 5-0 loss to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side ran riot at Old Trafford last month, with Mohamed Salah scoring a brilliant hat-trick. To make matters worse for the Red Devils, Paul Pogba was sent off in the second half for a reckless challenge on Naby Keita.

According to the Manchester Evening News, one United player "complained" to Solskjaer claiming he was forced to constantly cover a teammate during the loss. The report adds that another player was spotted in a restaurant in Manchester hours after the game "acting like nothing had happened".

Solskjaer was let go by United on Sunday following the weekend's embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Watford, and Michael Carrick has been appointed as caretaker as the club decide on an interim boss until the end of the season.

The report from MEN also claims that Solskjaer acted "carefree" after the Watford defeat and appeared for his post-match interview looking "cheerful".

Speaking after the game, the manager was still confident that his side could turn the defeat around, and said: "I always have belief in myself but, of course, at the moment it’s a difficult time for us. I can trust every single one out there to give what they have, the staff are fantastic but the results at the moment, are difficult, of course. Yeah, I believe we can turn this around.

"I need to get the players to perform better. That’s my responsibility. That’s the biggest thing now. They’re so disappointed, they’re trying to get their confidence back."

Unfortunately for Solskjaer, the responsibility of getting United back on their feet now lies with Carrick, and the new manager who will be appointed soon. Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen on making the switch from Paris Saint-Germain, with reports claiming the Argentine is "unhappy" in Paris. Brendan Rodgers, Zinedine Zidane, and Erik Ten Hag have also linked to the Old Trafford hot-seat.
