Manchester United have been handed a boost in their attempt to keep hold of striker Edinson Cavani with Argentinian outlet, Depo reporting that Uruguayan manager, Oscar Tabarez has advised his charge to remain in Europe for another season.

Cavani moved to United in the summer on a one-year deal and while the club have the option of extending his contract by another year - there has been speculation emerging that he wants to return to South America and play for Argentinian side, Boca Juniors.

However, Tabarez wants Cavani to remain in the Premier League for another season as he believes that the 34-year-old is better off playing at the highest level for as long as he can and that it would make more sense of him to take advantage of the extension offered by the Red Devils.

Cavani has impressed in spurts for United since his move in the summer, with the striker scoring eight goals in 29 appearances in all competitions. While his numbers are not that high, he has been lauded for his movement on the pitch and his tactical acumen, with manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitting that the Uruguayan has been a great presence in the dressing room, with his experience very vital in helping the youngsters.
