Manchester United are reportedly close to agreeing terms with Real Madrid for defender Raphael Varane ahead of a potential move this summer.
The Red Devils have been long-linked with the Frenchman, who could be on his way to Old Trafford ahead of next season after Los Blacos admitted they would be open to selling the 28-year-old.
Carlo Ancelotti's side want to sell Varane this summer as he has only a year left on his current deal and has made it clear that he wants to leave the club in search of a new challenge.
According to Manchester Evening News, an agreement is "close" between the two clubs.
The report also claims that Varane would prefer to head straight to Manchester following his time off on vacation rather than return to pre-season training in Madrid.
However, according to BBC journalist, Simon Stone, United are wary of any deal with Madrid as they believed they were close to signing Sergio Ramos five years ago, only to see the veteran defender sign a new contract with the club.
During his 10 years with the LaLiga giants, Varane has won the league title three times, and the Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup four times.
