Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour has reportedly given Pep Guardiola a mandate to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe in January.

City are looking to replace Sergio Aguero who left for Barcelona in the summer, and after having failed in their attempts to sign Harry Kane, the defending Premier League champions find themselves without a central striker this season.

Pep Guardiola has been forced to play Gabriel Jesus, Ferran Torres, and Raheem Sterling as strikers so far this season. But speaking on The Transfer Window podcast, Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles claimed that City owner Mansour has instructed the club to enter the race for Mbappe.

The report claims that the 2018 World Cup winner is ‘tempted’ by a potential move to the Premier League, despite his long desire to play for Real Madrid, who failed in their attempts to sign him earlier this summer.

City are now ready to sign Mbappe ‘at any cost’ and are willing to table a bid in January ‘if they could.’ Mbappe is out of contract next summer and the Premier League club believe PSG would be willing to sell the 22-year-old in January rather than lose him for free once the season ends.
