Manchester United have reportedly shown keen interest in signing FC Barcelona starlet Gavi in next summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils are said to be planning to offer the 17-year-old a bumper contract that is reportedly impossible for Barcelona to match, as reported by Spanish publication Todofichajes.

Barcelona are said to be in £98m worth of debt and Gavi, who is on contract at the club until 2023 reportedly has a release clause of around £43m.

The Blaugrana have been trying to tie Gavi down to a new long-term contract, but there hasn't been any agreement as of now.

Things worsened after Barcelona's shock exit from the UEFA Champions League and the club are in turmoil in La Liga, sitting eighth on the league table.

Manchester United are all set to lose Paul Pogba on a free transfer next summer and Goal report that the United hierarchy believe Gavi is the Frenchman's "natural replacement."

It has been reported that United's long time rivals Liverpool have also shown keen interest in the Spaniard as their board believes that he would be a great investment for the near future.

Meanwhile, United seem to be resigned to the fact that Pogba will leave United and thus look to step up their approach for a replacement, none better than Gavi.
