Key summary:

1) Manchester United will be active in the summer transfer window

2) As many as 15 transfer targets have reportedly been identified

3) The Red Devils are now analysing the top potential three top targets from 15 for this summer.

Manchester United reportedly have a long list of midfield targets that they will reduce to 15 by the time the summer transfer window rolls around.

The Red Devils did not sign any major players during the January transfer window and will be looking to bolster their squad in the summer by bringing in a new central midfielder.

Paul Pogba is out of contract at the end of the season and has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Real Madrid, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain all interested in signing the Frenchman.

According to ESPN, United have already identified several potential replacements for Pogba and are aiming at bringing down their list to 15 before the summer.

The report adds that the Red Devils are set to hold meetings and negotiations with agents and clubs once they whittle down their list to a three-man shortlist.

West Ham star Declan Rice, Leeds United playmaker Kalvin Phillips, and RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara are ‘all being considered’ by United.

Rice has been heavily linked with a move to United over the past transfer windows. But according to the Daily Mail, he is reportedly holding out for a move back to boyhood club Chelsea.

Jesse Lingard was linked with an exit from the club during last month's transfer window, but interim boss Ralf Rangnick claimed he wasn't sold due to Mason Greenwood's suspension from the club.

"[There were] two things. One, had a problem with Mason Greenwood and being without a player for the time being. Two, the club couldn’t find an agreement with another club," Rangnick said.

"He asked me and the club if we could give him a couple of days off just to clear up his mind and he'll be back in the group, I suppose, Monday, back for training and then be a regular part of the whole squad again."
