Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick has opened up on the injuries and illnesses facing his squad after left-back Luke Shaw had to be taken off at half-time while Cristiano Ronaldo too missed their 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Shaw went down near the end of the first half but despite the fact that Alex Telles immediately got ready to replace him, he played on until the interval and Rangnick confirmed that along with Ronaldo, Jesse Lingar too was suffering from an illness despite being named among the substitutes.

“He has problems with his leg, with an old former injury. He had pain last week with the England team and this showed up again today. Jesse Lingard was on the bench but he couldn’t play as he felt sick for the last one and a half weeks. He was feeling extremely bad before the game," he said post the game.

“We only had him on the bench as a formality," the German added.

The result on the night was another disappointing ones for the Red Devils as it leaves them scrambling for a place in the top four come the end of the season, with United currently placed sixth in the league table with 51 points from 30 games - four points behind fourth placed, Arsenal, though the Gunners have played two games lesser than them.
