Cristiano Ronaldo scored an incredible 95th minute winning goal to hand Manchester United a last-gasp victory over Villarreal at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League.

Now, a former Liverpool player, their goalkeeping legend Pepe Reina has caused controversy by claiming that Ronaldo was offside for the goal.

The Portuguese legend was largely ineffective in the game but was there in the right place at the right time to hand United a crucial three points.

Lingard's pass to Ronaldo saw the former bring brought down to the ground in front of the goalkeeper, meaning Ronaldo's shot was potentially from an offside position.

The goal was given despite VAR checks and Reina wasn't happy as he took to Twitter to call the move "Offside all day long...".

Reina spent a huge chunk of his career with United's arch-rivals Liverpool. He was also a former Villarreal player and so his disappointment at the loss was quite understandable.

The Red Devils, however, couldn't care less as they were desperately in need of a win, no matter how they got it, especially after their Champions League opening day loss to Young Boys two weeks back.

Paco Alcacer put Villarreal ahead in the game before Alex Telles of all people equalised with an incredibly volleyed goal. Ronaldo then completed the comeback just before the final whistle.
