Former Barcelona and current Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has opened up on the speculation surrounding the future of Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp, revealing that the Argentinian will "not find a better home” than Barcelona.
Messi's future at Barcelona has been the source of speculation throughout the season, considering that his current contract with them expires at the end of the season. Recently reports emerged that Paris Saint-Germain have made an "unbeatable" three-year offer for the 33-year-old's services, though the player himself has remained mum on his future plans.
Manchester City too have been linked with Messi, but Guardiola has once again reiterated his desire for the forward to finish his career at the Camp Nou.
“I hope he can finish his career at Barça. Messi will not find a better home than at Barca. The only thing that needs to be done, as our dear teacher said, is to go back to the origins, to rescue the cause of things, which makes Barça special in many things in the way they play," he told TV3.
“We know how to do it. The founding thing is already done. All you have to do is dust it off, put some oil on it, the nails ... and do it again. There is no better club to do it.”
Messi for his part has been his usual brilliant self in front of goal, scoring 33 goals in all competitions so far and leading them to the Copa del Rey title. He will be looking to help Barcelona win the LaLiga title, with the club in contention to win the honour come the end of the season.
