Lionel Messi reportedly wants Paris Saint-Germain to sell Mauro Icardi after an alleged falling out with his fellow Argentine.

Messi made the switch to PSG this summer as a free agent after Barcelona were unable to offer him a new contract. The six-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored three times in the Champions League, but is yet to open his account in Ligue One.

El Nacional has claimed that Messi has a "tense" relationship with Icardi, and reportedly wants his fellow Argentine sold. The report adds that the disagreement is beginning to cause a divide in Mauricio Pochettino's dressing room.

The report claims that Icardi believes Messi is the reason he has not featured for the Argentine national team for three years. Icardi has also been linked with an exit from PSG, with a swap deal with Barcelona touted in exchange for Sergio Aguero, Messi's close friend and long-time teammate.

Aguero left Manchester City and signed for Barcelona earlier this summer so that he could play alongside his good friend, Messi, at club level. But Messi's switch to PSG threw a spanner in Aguero's plans, who is now, reportedly unhappy at Barca.

Icardi's last cap for Argentina came all the way back in 2018, with the national team having no dearth of striking options, including Sergio Aguero, Lautaro Martinez, Paulo Dybala, and Nicolas Gonzalez.
