Argentina talisman, Lionel Messi is reportedly convinced that the national country's title drought can come to an end as he believes that they can win the 2021 Copa America with the striker excited by another shot at international glory.
Despite winning everything there is to multiple times at club level - a haul which includes 10 LaLiga titles and four Champions League trophies among other numerous honours, the 33-year-old is yet to taste glory with Argentina.
Messi has won the Under-20 World Cup in 2005 and the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics with Argentina but he has not won major honours despite coming close on numerous occasions. Such was his frustration at their inability to win silverware that he even considered retiring from international football in the past.
However, as per Goal, the record six-time Ballon d'Or award winner is encouraged by the improvements in the Argentina camp with the striker happy with the work being carried out by head coach, Lionel Scaloni and his coaching team.
Scaloni who was appointed in 2018 following a disastrous World Cup campaign under Jorge Valdano has taken brave decisions in the recent past by deciding to move on from the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Ever Banega to instead invest in youth by giving opportunities to Giovani Lo Celso, Leandro Paredes, Lautaro Martinez and Rodrigo de Paul.
Messi believes the current squad is capable of great things with the team set to take part in the World Cup qualifiers and the Copa America soon. It will be interesting to see whether the skippers confidence in his squad bears fruit in the near future.
