It's fair to say that Lionel Messi's initial months after his transfer to PSG hasn't gone the way everyone expected it to be.
The Argentine maestro has scored just one goal in 12 Ligue 1 games from 44 attempts on opponents' goal.
This implies that Messi has the second-worst shots-to-goals ratio among all players in Europe's top five leagues this season, according to the Daily Mail.
The only player with a worse record than Messi is Manchester City's Joao Cancelo, who has scored one goal this season from 46 attempts.
Messi, meanwhile has been subject to speculation of being unhappy with PSG's style of play, according to French publication L’Equipe.
This news comes after PSG are already 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.
Recently, Messi was subject to support from his former Real Madrid rival Karim Benzema, who slammed unwarranted criticism of the Argentine and backed him to succeed in France.
“How won’t he succeed? It is just a period of adaptation, because he is not scoring a lot of goals,” Benzema told TF1.
“But watch what he does on the pitch. In any case you cannot criticise a player like that, he who criticises Messi, knows nothing about football."
