There were worrying signs for Barcelona and Ronald Koeman as club talisman, Lionel Messi missed the Catalan's game in the semifinal of the Spanish Supercopa game against Real Sociedad on Wednesday.
Messi missed the game after it was confirmed that he had suffered a minimal injury in Barcelona's win over Granada in LaLiga and missed their training session before the game against Sociedad and now Marca has reported that the 33-year-old intends to return for the final after his side squeezed past their opponents on penalties.
The recent upturn in form of Barcelona can be laid at Messi's feet as he has not only been his usual brilliant self in front of goal but has also looked happy on the pitch - something which was missing at the start of the season.
With the Catalans scheduled to face either Real Madrid or Athletic Bilbao in the final on Sunday, the club management will be hoping that their talisman recovers in time for the clash as they looked flat without him in the semifinal on Wednesday.
Barcelona are currently placed third in the league table with 34 points, seven behind leaders, Atletico Madrid, with Messi himself leading the goalscoring charts after netting 11 goals in 17 games.
