Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman has rejected the idea of resting club talisman, Lionel Messi for their weekend's fixture against Getafe despite a packed schedule, revealing that, "He is one of those players who must play, he gets more tired when he does not play.”
Barcelona play seven games in a space of 21 days with El Mundo Deportivo suggesting that Messi could be rested for the Getafe game and keep him for fresh for the the big games like El Clasico and clash against Juventus in the Champions League.
“Messi could play in the next four games. He is one of those players who must play, he gets more tired when he does not play," Koeman said to Marca.
The 33-year-old is the only Barcelona player to play in every game for the club since football restarted in Spain in June while also travelling to play international football for Argentina in friendlies and World Cup qualifiers.
The Catalan giants are unbeaten in the three games they have played in the league, winning two games and drawing the other, registering seven points and are currently placed fourth in the La Liga table.
Messi for his part has scored one goal so far and will look to get his name on the scoresheet when they takes the field over the weekend.
