Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi believes that it is "spectacular" to have former Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos as his teammate in France.
Messi and Ramos were on the opposite ends of an incredible El Clasico rivalry between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for more than a decade.
Both players left their respective clubs over contract issues and joined Paris Saint-Germain in blockbuster transfers.
Messi spoke about the changes he had to undergo with Ramos in the same team and said it was "weird" at first.
“Sergio Ramos as a teammate is spectacular,” he told Marca via Diario AS.
“Now it’s nothing, but at the start it was weird after so many years of rivalry, being the two captains of Barca and Madrid, after so many Clasicos played, so many fights that we had on the pitch.
"But all that stayed inside and we have always had a lot of respect for them being such big rivals in these Clasicos. To have him today as a teammate is spectacular."
Barcelona had to let go of Messi despite a new contract ready due to La Liga's CVC deal. Ramos, meanwhile accepted Real Madrid's new contract offer only to be told that he had left it too late, with the club then withdrawing the offer.
