Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman has insisted that the side showed Lionel Messi that the club have a bright future despite being knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
Messi scored during Barcelona's 1-1 draw in the second leg, but the club still crashed out on the aggregate score over the two legs with the Catalan's exiting the competition for the first time in the last-16 stage since 2007.
With Messi's future at the club coming under increased speculation, Koeman believes recent improvements could convince him to stay.
"Leo's seen for a while that the team is improving with the changes we've made. We have youngsters with quality and big futures coming into the team, so it's not a question of having doubts about what this team is capable of," he said post the game.
"But only he can decide his future. No one can help him. He can see this side has a great future, so that's not an argument for him to [leave]."
Their recent exit in the Champions League means that Barcelona and Messi will have to now focus on the LaLiga in order to ensure that they win an important trophy of note come the end of the season.
