Leicester City are reportedly considering a surprise £20m move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The 29-year-old has failed to live up to his £105m move from Liverpool, scoring just 15 LaLiga goals in 64 appearances. The Brazilian has not played for Barcelona in 2021, and has been rumoured to be on his way out of Camp Nou this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are keen to offload Coutinho, and Leicester have been linked with a £20m move for the former Inter star. Brendan Rodgers worked with Coutinho at Liverpool in 2013-14, when the Reds came close to winning the Premier League.

Everton and Arsenal have been also linked with a move for Coutinho, but neither would be able to offer him European football next season, unlike Europa League side Leicester.

However, Coutinho has struggled for form and has managed just 12 league appearances last term due to injury and spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Bayern Munich. He is one of the 18 players reportedly put on the transfer list by Barcelona, according to the Mirror.

The LaLiga giants are desperate to slash costs and lower their wage bill, as they expect further signings this transfer window. President Joan Laporta has insisted that the club will do everything they can to reduce their outstanding debt, and a number of top players could be offloaded in order to help get the club's books in order.
