The Spanish football scene was dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for a long time and now that both the stars are no longer in La Liga, the league's president Javier Tebas is hoping that Kylian Mbappe, if he moves to Real Madrid, and Ansu Fati are the two players who will make the league glorious again.
Ronaldo left La Liga for Juventus in 2018 whereas Messi left Barcelona this summer to make a move to Paris Saint-Germain and team up with Mbappe and Neymar.
However, Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid after a transfer broke down in the summer.
Tebas believes Ansu Fati is "equal to or better" than Mbappe and will provide the Frenchman a challenge in Spain.
As reported by the Mirror, Tebas said, "We always like to give a lot of value to what we have outside of Spain.
"We have Ansu Fati, who unfortunately has had injuries, but over time he has shown that he is equal to or better than Mbappe."
Soon after Tebas' comments, Spanish outlet Diario AS handed out an opinion that the La Liga chief's comments are a bit overboard as Mbappe has surpassed Fati on most details of glory that a footballer can earn at a young age.
Speaking statistically, Mbappe has scored a remarkable 77 goals in 97 games since he made his move to PSG. In comparison, Fati has made just 51 appearances for Barcelona and bagged 17 goals, which is impressive. Not to forget, Fati has had to go through a major injury concern.
While Mbappe coming to Real Madrid will instantly make him the most glorified player in La Liga, we sincerly hope Ansu Fati provides him with a challenge to make the league great again.
