Kerala Blasters FC have signed Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Enes Sipović ahead of the 2021/22 Indian Super League season, the club announced on Saturday.
Sipović joins Kerala Blasters after spending the 2020-21 season with another ISL side, Chennaiyin FC. The 30-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the Kerala-based outfit.
Sipović, who had featured in 18 matches for Chennaiyin in the previous edition of ISL, is also the first Bosnian player to join Kerala Blasters, and the centre-back expressed his delight after completing the move to 'one of the biggest clubs in India'.
“I am so excited to join one of the biggest clubs in India, with an army of amazing fans. I must say that my actions speak for myself, so on the field, I will be LOUD," Sipović said.
Kerala Blasters FC’s Sporting Director, Karolis Skinkys welcomed the defender to the team, stating: "Enes is a reliable defender, strong on set pieces and positioning. I know that he can adapt to Indian conditions very well and he is an excellent team player. He showed huge motivation to represent Kerala, so I'm happy and looking forward to working with him soon."
Meanwhile, Sipović is Kerala Blasters' second foreign signing ahead of the 21/22 season. The club had last week announced they have acquired the services of Uruguayan midfielder Adrian Luna.
