Juventus manager, Andrea Pirlo has confirmed that he reached an agreement with star player. Cristiano Ronaldo over resting him in the week leading to the Bianconeri's 3-1 win over Lazio in Serie A on Saturday.

Ronaldo started on the bench as the Bianconeri came from behind to beat Lazio in the Juventus Stadium. With his side trailing 2-1 n their Champions League last 16 clash with Porto ahead of Tuesday’s second leg in Turin, Pirlo decided to give the 36-year-old Ronaldo a break.

“He came from eight or nine consecutive games, we made an agreement during the week (for Ronaldo to be rested), it was already planned. Cristiano is an added value, the boys have done what they had to do tonight without him. Cristiano has already scored 20 goals, it was normal that others also scored," he told Sky Sports as quoted by Metro.

Despite Ronaldo's heroics on the pitch, Juventus find themselves placed third in the Serie A table with 52 points, seven behind table toppers, Inter Milan who are considered the favourites to win their first title since 2010.

Ronaldo for his part has scored 27 goals in just 31 games in all competitions with their hopes of winning a trophy falling on his shoulders.
