FC Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo's mother, Lucia, has hit out at coach Quique Setien's comments, made during his latest press conference, about the Brazilian, who is expected to leave the Catalan club and join Juventus in the transfer window.
Setien was asked to comment on Arthur's situation at the club during his pre-match press conference ahead of the La Liga game against Celta Vigo, The Barca gaffer responded, opining [via Marca], "There are players who come with expectations and they do not gel," before adding, "That happens at all the teams. I'm not saying that happens with Arthur. Since he has been with me, he has put a lot of interest in doing what we have asked him."
The coach added: "There have been things that we have had to stress again and he has tried to do them by all means. Perhaps he has lacked consistency. It is not easy to change things on a footballer that other coaches have told him were very good for him."
And the comments seem to have not gone down well with the player's mother, who tweeted: "My God, now they are starting to point to the player's defects."
Arthur's departure from Barcelona appears to be inevitable, with reports suggesting there is already an agreement in place between the Catalans and Juventus regarding a swap deal, according to which the Brazilian will join the Old Lady with Miralem Pjanic arriving in Catalonia.
