Jose Mourinho matched an unwanted record as Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Spurs suffered their ninth loss of the season, matching Mourinho's record of losses in a single season.

Despite taking the lead in the first half through a spectacular Erik Lamela goal, the visitors squandered away their chances and were bested by the Gunners, who mounted a comeback with goals from Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette.

As Tottenham stumbled to yet another loss, Mourinho is the midst of his worst managerial spell since his last outing with Chelsea. In the 2015-16 season, the former Blues boss also suffered nine league defeats over the course of the season. Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Everton, Southampton, West Ham, Liverpool, Stoke, Bournemouth, and Leicester all beat the Blues that season.

This season, along with Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool twice, Leicester, Brighton, Chelsea, Manchester City, and West Ham have all beaten Mourinho's side, who are back in action during the midweek against Dinamo Zagreb in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie on Thursday. They then take on Aston Villa in the last round of the Premier League games before the international break.
