Football super-agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly told La Liga club Atletico Madrid that he wants his client Joao Felix to be sold in January.
Furthermore, Atletico are said to be willing to listen to offers in the next transfer window. Felix arrived at Atletico for an incredible £113m fee when he was just 19-years-old.
Now at 22, he has shown flashes of brilliance but hasn't turned out to be the breakout star everyone expected him to be.
His agent Mendes reportedly believes that Felix has a chance to achieve his full potential elsewhere and has asked the club to sell the player in January, according to AS.
After suffering an injury at the start of the season, Felix returned fit but was eventually demoted to the bench, making late substitute appearances only.
Speaking on Cadena Ser, journalist Javier Matallanas claimed that the Valencia game is where the problems started.
"He has to find another project, because in this one it is not working for whatever reason. A wonderful footballer is being lost, presenter Jesus Gallego said.
"Everything starts after the Mestalla game, since Jorge Mendes contacts the club to request his departure. Atleti has told him that as long as he brings the money, they will let him leave," Matallanas explained.
Now, Mendes has reportedly started the search for a new club for Felix, something which appears to possibly be decided next summer.
