Former Juventus striker and current Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up on his time in the Serie A, revealing that "Italy will always be an amazing place that will be forever in my heart".

Ronaldo is set to return to Italy as United prepare to face Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, with the striker leaving the country in the summer after spending three years with Juventus in the Serie A.

The 36-year-old took to social networking platform, Instagram to hail his time in Italy, while also reiterating to the fans that they will do their best to come first in the group.

“Back to Italy. A country that welcomed me and my family so well, an amazing place that will be forever in my heart. I know from experience that it’s never easy to play in Bergamo against a team such as Atalanta, but we will do our absolute best to keep the first place in our group," he wrote on Instagram.

“This is Champions League and we are Manchester United! We are where we belong! Let’s go, Devils!”

Ronaldo has always been brilliant when it comes to Europe and is the current all-time highest goalscorer in Champions League history with 137 goals in 179 games. The Portugal icon has also scored 60 times in 88 away games and will look to add to his tally when the Red Devils face Atalanta.
