Media in Italy believe that Inter Milan are still harbouring the possibility that Lionel Messi will join them from Barcelona in the near future, with Libero (via Sempreinter) claiming that the Argentinian's purchase of a luxury penthouse in central Milan means that something could be on the cards.
Messi has been heavily linked in recent times with a move away from the Nou Camp considering that he recently halted contract talks with the club as it is understood that he is not happy with the way the board has been running the iconic institution.
Inter for their part are known to be keen to lure the striker to the club and it has now gained further ground as the the 33-year-old has followed in his father’s footsteps and purchased a property in the Lombardy capital, which can see the Nerazzurri’s headquarters.
Recently it also emerged that Inter were willing to keep aside a staggering amount in the region of 260million in order to ensure that they could get a player who they believe would help them reclaim their standing in Europe.
Messi for his part is yet to comment on the speculation surrounding a potential move, instead choosing to focus on the Champions League as he led Barcelona to the quarter-finals of the competition after playing a key role in their 3-1 win over Napoli in the round of 16 second leg fixture last week.
