Paris Saint-Germain star, Leandro Paredes is confident that record seven-time Ballon d'Or award winner, Lionel Messi will turn things around in Paris, backing the striker to lead them to their first ever Champions League trophy.

Messi has not had the best of starts to life at PSG following his move from Barcelona last summer, and despite that he has still managed to score seven goals and register seven assists in 19 appearances in all competitions so far.

The 34-year-old's slow start can be attributed to injuries and contracting of COVID-19, though Paredes has no doubt whatsoever that the Argentina icon will be back to his best soon.

“It’s not easy, not even for Leo – who is the best in the world – to arrive at a club, to have success and perform at 100%. It’s difficult to adapt to a new country, to a new club and to new teammates after so much time at another club," he said in an interview with PSG.

“It’s Leo Messi. I am sure that he is going to turn the situation around.”

PSG have been drawn with Real Madrid in the round of 16 stage of the Champions League and it will be interesting to see how he performs against his long-time rivals, having been brilliant against him during his time with Barcelona.
