Manchester United star, Marcus Rashford has hailed Shola Shoretire after the teenager made his first senior appearance for United on Sunday, claiming that the club's willingness to give youth a chance is in their DNA.

Shoretire became the latest academy graduate to make his first-team debut when he was brought on a late second-half substitute by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Red Devils' 3-1 win over Newcastle in the Premier League.

The 17-year-old has followed in the footsteps of a number of players who were given chances by the management and now Rashford has hailed his club in their approach to handling the young talent in their ranks.

"It's in our DNA, it's what we do at Man United. It's important our kids know when they're good enough, [they know] they're old enough. Shola has been training with us now for a little while, and has done really well, [this] was the next step up," he said as quoted by Goal.

"In the last transfer window we let a few players go out on loan, which made the path for him shorter and I'm sure he'll remember his five or six minutes on the pitch tonight."

Rashford who himself broke through from the club's youth academy has gone on to establish himself as one of the best young players in the world, already making more than 250 appearances for the Red Devils at the tender age of 23.
