Hyderabad FC claimed the Indian Super League title for the first time in their short history in the 2021-22 season.

The most amazing aspect about their win was that they featured some of the most talented Indian footballers as first team starters throughout the season.

However, there were so many incredible Indian stars who performed brilliantly in the 2021-22 Indian Super League season. We take a look at the best of them.

India has earned their next big star.

ATK Mohun Bagan star Liston Colaco's goalscoring this season was a sight to witness.

After scoring just two goals and three assists last season, Colaco managed to thump in eight goals and four assists in the 2021-22 season.

Why we keep him first in this list you say?

Because it takes incredible talent to be the top scorer in the season in a team consisting of magical foreign talent like Hugo Boumous, Roy Krishna and David Williams.

Such was his performance that Indian national football team coach Igor Stimac chose him as one of the players in his 25-man squad for upcoming games against Bahrain and Belarus.

2. Ruivah Hormipam - Kerala Blasters

Kerala Blasters superstar was the best centre-back in the league this season, both in terms of Indian and foreign players.

The 21-year-old just featured for 13 games for the Blasters this season and automatically became their most important player in defence.

He made 49 tackles, 29 interceptions and 64 clearances. His performance in the first leg of the ISL semi-final against Jamshedpur FC was probably the best defensive performance of the season.

His performances caught the eye of Indian national team coach Igor Stimac who chose him in the Indian squad for the upcoming international games.

3. Roshan Singh - Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC star Roshan Singh, a defender by trait, showcased some of the best all-round footballing action by an Indian footballer in the 2021-22 season.

The 23-year-old was strong in defence and incredible in attack as he contributed a lot to the overall gameplay of the Blues.

Roshan had the most number assists made by a defender (7) in the 2021-22 season. Defensively, he played 17 games and made 77 tackles in the season.

Such was his individual impact on the team that we couldn't ignore him in this list, neither could Igor Stimac, who chose him in the Indian squad for the upcoming international games.

4. Akash Mishra - Hyderabad FC

Akash Mishra played a crucial role in helping HFC reach the ISL final / ISL

Hyderabad FC's Indian defender Akash Mishra was the silent catalyst in his team's journey to the Indian Super League final.

The 20-year-old youngster played the most games (23), made the most successful tackles (97), the most number of interceptions (56), ball touches (1446) for Hyderabad FC.

His performances went slightly under the radar but we definitely need to address how crucial he was to his team's journey in the 2021-22 season.

One of the biggest testament to his performances in the league this season was the fact that he was called up to the Indian football team by Igor Stimac for the upcoming international games.
