The Indian Super League came to a grand close with Hyderabad FC claiming the title for the first time in their history.
This season, the AIFF decided to decrease the number of foreign players in the starting lineup at a club to 3+1 (three players from any nation + 1 player from an AFC member country).
The intention of this move was to promote more Indian footballers to shine, but it also meant that clubs took their foreign options pretty seriously and that reaped some incredible results for some ISL teams.
Here's a look at the top 3 best foreigners in ISL's 2021-22 season
1. Greg Stewart
The most impactful player in the 2021-22 season of the Indian Super League has been Greg Stewart.
The Jamshedpur FC superstar came up with incredible performances throughout the season, leading his side to a first ever playoff.
Stewart scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists to his teammates in 21 games, nearing a goal contribution every single game throughout the season. These are some incredible numbers.
2. Bartholomew Ogbeche
Ogbeche is turning out to be that player who decides which way the title will sway at the end of the season.
The Nigerian has now won back-to-back ISL titles with different teams.
He also won the Golden Boot this season with 18 goals in 20 games on his way to become an ISL champion, yet again.
3. Adrian Luna
When he joined Kerala Blasters at the start of the season, Luna instantly became a ray of hope for the fans for the 2021-22 season, and he did deliver a dream to this football crazy state in India.
Surely the star performer for his team throughout the campaign, Luna deserves to be among the best foreign players of the season.
With 13 goal contributions to his name (6 goals and 7 assists), Luna became the driving force which propelled Kerala Blasters to yet another ISL final.
