The 2021/22 season of the Indian Super League (ISL) is set to start soon with the competition scheduled to kick-off on 19 November, with ATK Mohun Bagan taking on Kerala Blasters FC in the opener.

FC Goa have been one of the most consistent sides in the ISL in the recent past and come into this edition after reaching the semi-finals last season. Juan Ferrando has impressed as a manager, with the Gaurs even creating history two seasons ago by becoming the first Indian club to make it to the group stage of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League.

It will be interesting to see how they perform this time around and here, we take a look at the six foreigners who are part of their side for the upcoming edition.

1) Ivan Gonzalez (CB)

FC Goa have made some astute signings and none more so than Ivan Gonzalez who has been brilliant for them in defence ever since he arrived in the summer 2020. The Spaniard who came through the youth setup at Real Madrid, played a key role in their Durand Cup win and will look to continue his consistent form this time around too.

2) Jorge Oriz (RW)

Signed as a free agent on a two-year deal, Jorge Oriz is another Spaniard who has been impressive for the Gaurs, with the right-winger scoring six goals last season - while also bringing in the required experience needed to the side.

The 29-year-old has played for a number of lower league sides in Spain, and it will be interesting to see if he can continue to impress this season.

3) Dylan Fox (CB)

It came as a surprise why ATK Mohun Bagan let go of Dylan Fox, considering that the centre-back played a crucial role for them last campaign, helping Khalid Jamil's side finish third in the league table.

The Australian has loads of experience, having played for the likes of Wellington Phoenix and the Central Coast Mariners in the past.

4) Edu Bedia (DM)

Edu Bedia is arguably one of the most important players in the Goa side, as seen by his performances for them ever since he joined them in 2017. Such was his importance to the side that he was appointed captain ahead of the 2020/21 season, and even scored the winner in the final to help the Gaurs win their first ever Durand Cup title.

5) Airam Cabrera (ST)

The club were looking for a proven goalscorer and decided to offer Airam Cabrera a one-year contract, as they look to the Spaniard to provide extra firepower up front as they go into the upcoming edition.

The 34-year-old who is a well travelled figure in the Spanish circuit, will hope that he can carry his form and talent when it comes to the ISL.

6) Alberto Noguera (AM)

Alberto Noguera has represented Atletico Madrid in the past and established himself as a regular presence in the Goa side after signing for them last year - making 20 appearances for them. The Spaniard has one-year left on his contract and if he continues in the same vein, it is likely that the management would want to extend his deal.
