The 2021/22 season of the Indian Super League (ISL) is set to start soon with the competition scheduled to kick-off on 19 November, with ATK Mohun Bagan taking on Kerala Blasters FC in the opener.

ATK Mohun Bagan come into this edition after narrowly missing out on the ISL title and also the league shield to Mumbai City FC last season and are the favourites to secure their first honour as a merged side after ATK and Mohun Bagan joined hands - with ATK winning the ISL title three times previously before the merger.

It will be interesting to see how they perform this time around and here, we take a look at the six foreigners who are part of their side for the upcoming edition.

1) Tiri (CB)

Tiri who is also known as Jose Luis Espinosa Arroyo has vast experience in the ISL, having made more than 90 appearances for the likes of ATK, Jamshedput and ATK Mohun Bagan so far and is one of the more experienced foreign players in the league.

The 30-year-old who returned to ATK in 2020, has won the ISL title once so far in his career.

2) David Williams (ST)

Arguably one of the best signings made by the club in the recent past, David Williams made an instant impact for them in 2019, scoring seven goals and registering five assists to lead the club to the ISL title that season.

The 33-year-old's performances saw the ATK extend his contract as they are desperate to hold on to the striker as they go into the upcoming campaign.

3) Carl McHugh (DM)

Capable of playing anywhere in midfield, Carl McHugh was signed in 2019 and he has been a consistent performer for the club, with the Republic of Ireland star extending his stay at Kolkata for the foreseeable future.

The 28-year-old will look to continue his good form and help his side do one better this season.

4) Roy Krishna (ST)

Roy Krishna has without doubt been the best foreign player in the ISL in the past two-three years as seen by his brilliant performances in front of goal for the club. The 34-year-old has won back-to-back ISL top goalscorer award as well as the Golden Ball award in the 2020/21 season.

He was instrumental in the club winning the 2019/20 title and the onus will be on him to lead them to the title this season.

5) Joni Kauko (CM)

Joni Kauko is a regular presence in the Finland national team and joins the club on the back of some impressive performances during his career so far - with the midfielder even playing in the Bundesliga in the past.

Much is expected from the 31-year-old, and it will be interesting to see how he performs in his debut season in the league.

6) Hugo Boumous (AM)

Another foreign player who has had a major impact in the league, Hugo Boumous played a key role in Mumbai City FC winning the title last season and it came as a surprise to many that he was let go of by the club.

Mumbai's loss has been ATK Mohun Bagan's gain as they have got a gamechanger in their ranks, with the 26-year-old winning the Golden Ball in the 2019/20 season.
