Mumbai City FC had quite an extra-ordinary Indian Super League season as they first claimed the league winner's shield before winning the league's title in the final against ATK Mohun Bagan in Goa.

While all other teams in the 2020-21 season relied on individual performers to lead them to glory throughout the campaign, just Mumbai City FC looked like the only side who believed in the power of team-work, something which eventually led them to their maiden ISL title.

In a team that has outperformed every single side in the ISL this season, we take a look at the best 5 players for the Islanders throughout the tenure of the campaign.

There was no doubt that every single ISL fan thought Ogbeche will be a super hit signing for Mumbai City FC.

But, unlike his first two stints in Indian football with Kerala Blasters and NEUFC, Ogbeche didn’t always start for Mumbai City FC.

However, he did create major impact whenever he stepped on to the field. Ogbeche played a key role in Mumbai's success with eight goals and three assists.

Three of his ultimately crucial goal contributions came at the most important stages of the season, twice during Mumbai City FC’s last two league-stage games and his last assist which set up Bipin to score the winning goal in the final to hand Mumbai the ISL title.

2. Hugo Boumous

He may have missed some games due to injury, but mind you, Hugo Boumous is undoubtedly one of the biggest reasons why Mumbai City FC are champions of India.

Even though he featured in just 16 matches for the Islanders, Boumous came up with as many as seven assists and three goals.

The fact that no other Mumbai player could hand in more assists than Boumous did, speaks volumes on how critical he was in leading the Islanders to their first ISL triumph.

3. Bipin Singh
