The Indian national football team will leave for Qatar on May 19 after the Gulf nation accepted All India Football Federation's request to allow it's players to train there ahead of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers next month.

Not only that, Qatar has even agreed to waive the mandatory 10-day hard quarantine for players reaching there. The players will have a preparatory camp of nearly two weeks in a bio-bubble in Qatar before the first match on June 3.

"We are planning to fly the team on May 19 evening. There will be no quarantine (of the players) and they will be in a bio-bubble,” AIFF general secretary Kushal Das told on Sunday.

According to Goal, the Indian football team will however, have to produce a negative coronavirus test result before they assemble in Delhi and then another test will be conducted before their departure for Qatar.

India will be facing Qatar, Bangladesh and Afghanistan as they hunt for a spot at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.

The Blue Tigers faced Oman and UAE in friendly matches earlier this year. They drew against Oman where Igor Stimac was very impressed with his team's efforts. However, they were thumped by UAE in the second game.

The Indian team is currently fourth in their AFC Asian Cup qualification group with three points from five games. From the remaining games, India will hope to collect as many points as possible in order to finish third and gain automatic qualification for the 2023 Asian Cup qualifying third round.
