India national football had to settle for a draw in their clash with Nepal, as both teams played out a 1-1 draw in the international friendly.

The Blue Tigers were far from their best against their neighbours, and sent an impression that more work needs to be done before the 2021 SAFF Championship kicks-off in October.

Against Nepal, Igor Stimac's side went behind in the 36th minute, with Anjan Bista capitalising on a mistake and finding the back of the net to put The Gorkhalis ahead.

India went to the break trailing by a goal, but restored parity on the hour mark. Nepal goalkeeper pulled off a great save to deny Sunil Chhetri's thunderous attempt, but Anirudh Thapa, who had been brought on in the second half, tapped home the rebound to level the scorecard.

In the remaining 30 minutes of the match, neither India nor Nepal could find a winner as the game petered out to a draw.

India and Nepal will face-off once more, with the two sides set to clash in another friendly on Sunday, September 5.
