The 2020/21 season of the I-League saw Gokulam Kerala emerged as champions after they trumped over Churchill Brothers on a better goal difference, despite both the sides ending the season on the same amount of points.
There have been a number of top performers this season, and here we take a look at the five highest goalscorers this time around.
1. Khangembam Bidyashagar Singh (TRAU) - 12 goals
A product of East Bengal's youth system, Bidyashagar Singh scored 12 goals and registered one assist this season - a haul which included two hat-tricks. He is widely considered as one of best young players in the country and at only 23-years-old, he will be expected to become an integral part of the future for both club and country going forward.
2. Luka Majcen (Churchill Brothers) - 11 goals
Luka Majcen joined Churchill Brothers in 2020 and he has been a valuable addition to the side as seen by the 11 goals he netted in the season, with his side only finishing second due to goal difference. The former Slovenia Under-21 international will look to do one better and lead his team to the title next season.
3. Dennis Antwi (Gokulam Kerala) - 11 goals
A well-travelled striker, Dennis Antwi played an integral role in his side winning the title this season, with the Ghanian scoring 11 goals and was a deadly presence in front of goal. The other clubs for sure will keep a more detailed eye on his movements around the goal come next season.
4. Clayvin Julian Zuniga (Churchill Brothers) - 8 goals
Clayvin Zuniga was another who was key to Churchill Brothers coming second, with the Hondurian netting eight goals and impressing everyone with his versatility on the pitch. The Hondurian has in the past stated that it was a "difficult decision" to come to India, but he would be glad that he did for sure.
