There is no doubt that wages in the world of football have inflated beyond control. Just recently, it was reported that Mino Raiola intends to make Erling Haaland the world's first £1 million-per-week player.

Honestly, no one deserves that kind of money, but that is how football has shaped up to be in the modern day.

Today we bring you an XI of the highest paid footballers in the world.

One of the seniors in the squad, Pique is the backbone of Barca's defence and success over the years.

5. Paul Pogba (€17.3 million)

Paul Pogba is showing glimpses of what he is capable of at Manchester United and earns quite a lot of money for doing that.

The French midfielder is reportedly on a £290,000-per-week salary, making him the second highest earner at the club after David De Gea.

Arguably the best midfielder in world football right now, Kevin De Bruyne takes home a reported €18.4m as part of his new contract that he signed with Manchester City recently.

7. Antoine Griezmann (€21 million)

FC Barcelona shelled out €120 million to trigger Antoine Griezmann's release clause from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019.

On signing his contract with the Catalan giants, Griezmann instantly became one of their highest paid players, going home with an annual pay of €21 million.

Barcelona are said to be in dire financial condition and Messi still earns more than double of what Ronaldo and Neymar earn.

The Brazilian maestro pockets €30 million in annual wages and is one of the three highest-earning footballers on the planet.

Ronaldo joined Juventus in 2018 after an incredibly successful stint at Real Madrid in a deal worth more than €100 million. He immediately became their highest paid player.

Cristiano Ronaldo gets €31 million in wages annually and that is four times more the second highest paid player at the club, Matthijs de Ligt.
