LaLiga giants, Barcelona are looking to lay off a number of players in order to reduce their massive wage bill as they look to ensure that they not only reduce their overall debt but also make sure that they can re-sign Lionel Messi.

One of the names for sale being touted is that of striker, Martin Braithwaite with reports stating that they would accept offers for the Danish striker - though his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya while speaking to BT Sports, denied such reports.

“Jorge Mendes was going to place Braithwaite at Wolverhampton for €15 million? Everything is sh**, all these stories are false. He does not have players in Barcelona, he has players in Wolves that he can focus on — so I can take care of my own players.

“Why would Braithwaite move to Wolves and why would an agent (Mendes) who has no players at Barça try to send my player to Wolves? Even though I know Mendes has good links in Wolves? It’s a waste of everyone’s time.

“He plays in the biggest club in the world and trains under one of the best coaches. From day one until now, everything has gone beyond all expectations in terms of playing time, and he is very happy.”

The 30-year-old is coming off an impressive Euro 2020 campaign, though he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter for the Catalan giants, scoring just eight goals in 53 appearances for them.

It will be interesting to see how the club management respond to his agents comments, and as it stands his client currently remains a player for the LaLiga giants.
