Brazil and Juventus full-back, Danilo has opened up on the speculation surrounding the future of footballing superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo at Turin - revealing that the club still needs their star striker and that having him in the team is important.
Ronaldo's future at the club has come under question considering that the striker is their highest earner and has only one more year left on his current contract with them. With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting clubs financially, Juventus will save around 30million if the 36-year-old does leave them in the summer.
The money saved can be used to sign some of their targets while also reducing the wage bill, though Danilo believes that the Bianconeri need to keep hold of Ronaldo - not only due to the goals he scores but also because he is the one player who would help achieve their objectives.
“Having him in the team is important for us, because he brings an avalanche of goals, and besides , he’s a dear friend, we’ve known each other since Real Madrid. He’ll still be with us next season," he said as per Calciomercato.
Juventus had a disastrous 2020/21 season by their high standards, but despite that Ronaldo was his usual brilliant self in front of goal, scoring 36 goals in all competitions - of which 29 came in the Serie A, which led him to win his first Golden Boot award in the league.
