Former Bayern Munich star and 2014 World Cup winner, Mario Gotze has revealed that it his dream to play alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona, claiming that, "to celebrate possession football with this [Barca] team, alongside Lionel Messi, that would be a dream".
Gotze who went from the best prospect in world football to a forgotten man is currently playing with PSV Eindhoven, for whom he has hit the ground running this season, scoring five goals and registering five assists in 17 league games.
However, the 28-year-old has revealed that he is keen to play in the Champions League and alongside Messi.
"I want to play the Champions League again. To celebrate possession football with this [Barca] team, alongside Lionel Messi, that would be a dream," he told 11Freunde.
Gotze has so far played for the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Bayern and PSV in his career so far, while also making 63 appearances for Germany. However, he was last called up by Joachim Low to represent his country in 2017, despite scoring the winner against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final.
It will be interesting to see how his career pans out considering that he still is yet to reach his peak in and has a lot of football left in him.
