FC Goa head coach, Juan Ferrando has opened up on his sides player, Glan Martins ahead of India's upcoming FIFA 2022 World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, while also going on to wish the Blue Tigers the best of luck.

Martins who moved to Goa from ATK Mohun Bagan in the January transfer window, immediately showed his class for the Gaurs in the last season of the Indian Super League (ISL), playing an important role in them reaching the semi-finals and their third place finish in the AFC Champions League.

The 26-year-old's performances earned him a maiden call-up to the national team by coach, Igor Stimac for their upcoming games and Ferrando took the opportunity to praise him while also hoping that India perform well in their upcoming assignments.

“I think the most outstanding thing about Glan is his involvement in daily work and in understanding the game. He makes good choices and involves the teammates playing around him. Glan reads the game well and most importantly, enjoys himself on the pitch," he told ISL's official website.

“I hope so (whether Martins will go far with the national team), as he has the skills and is a hardworking player. I wish him and the whole team the best. I wish the best for all the 28 players in the squad and hope the national team can achieve good results to boost the present and future of Indian football."

The Blue Tigers are currently in Doha training for their upcoming games against Qatar, Bangladesh and Afghanistan on June 3, 7 and 15, respectively.
