FC Barcelona want to extend Ousmane Dembele's contract until 2025 to avoid losing him for free at the end of next season, according to Sport.

Dembele's contract with Barcelona expires in June 2022, and the Catalan outfit are looking to extend it for three more years.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Dembele will have to take a decision on his future in the coming days and weeks. If chooses not to put pen to paper on a new contract at the La Liga side, Barcelona will likely put him on the transfer market this summer.

If Barcelona decide to cash in on Dembele in the summer transfer window, he will not be short of suitors, with Manchester United, who came close to signing him on a loan deal with an option to buy last summer, said to be among clubs keen on securing the services of the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, Dembele is currently enjoying one of his best spells since joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. The forward has featured in 36 matches for the Blaugrana across all competitions so far this season. He also has 10 goals to his name this season, the latest of which came during the club's 1-0 win over Real Valladolid in the recent La Liga fixture, which helped them close gap on league leaders Atletico Madrid to one point.
