FC Barcelona presidential hopeful Joan Laporta is reportedly ready to sign Erling Haaland for the Catalan side if he becomes the club's president.
The Norwegian youngster has emerged as one of Europe's top talents and is in hot form for Borussia Dortmund, where he has been playing since 2020. Dortmund saw off competition from the likes of Manchester United to sign Haaland on a four-and-a-half-year for a fee reported to be in the region of €20m, but the 20-year-old has already been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga side.
According to El Chiringuito [via Goal], Laporta will use his friendship with Haaland's agent Mino Raiola to lure the Norwegian international to Camp Nou.
Haaland has already scored 17 goals across all competitions for Dortmund this season. 10 of those were scored in the Bundesliga, while six came in the UEFA Champions League.
However, if Laporta wins the Barcelona presidential race and try to sign Haaland, the Catalans will mostly have to face fierce competition, with bitter rivals Real Madrid also said to be keen on signing the youngster in the upcoming transfer window. It also remains to be seen if Barca will be in a financial position to land a deal for Haaland, who won't come cheap.
